Borrowing and renewals

Check your library account

You can use your Library Search account to see your loans, renew books, save searches and create lists of resources.

To access your account:

  1. Visit .
  2. Click "Sign in" (top right).
  3. Select "茄子视频 members or customers".
  4. Use your normal 茄子视频 login details.
  5. You'll then be taken back to the Library Search page.
  6. Find your account information in the "My Account" drop down under your name.
  7. Select "Checkouts" to review your loans and renew books.

Borrow books

Request a free postal loan online or visit one of our libraries.

Members can borrow 8 items for 4 weeks at a time.

After 4 weeks, you will need to renew your loans.

Renew your loans

You can renew your loans up to 5 times. 

You cannot renew a book which has been reserved by another member.

To renew your loans:

  1. Sign in on using your normal 茄子视频 login details.
  2. Select "My Account" under your name.
  3. Choose "Checkouts" to view your loans.
  4. Tick "Select all" or each book you would like to renew.
  5. Click "Renew items".

Reserve a book

You can reserve books currently borrowed by someone else and books which are available on the library shelves.

To reserve a book:

  1. Sign in on .
  2. Search for your book.
  3. Click on the book's title.
  4. Select the “Place Hold” option on the right-hand side of the page.
  5. Choose which library you would like to collect the book from.
  6. Once your reservation is ready, we will let you know by email.

Request postal loans

If you would like books posted to you free of charge, fill in the Postal loan request form.

Use to check if we have the book you’re looking for.

You can limit your search results to physical books with the “Print Books” filter on the lefthand side.

Return by post

Books can be returned by post for free using CollectPlus.

Visit to request a label and receive instructions.

It doesn’t matter which library you originally borrowed your books from, return for free to the London library.

Inter-library loan (article request)

You can request articles and books which we don't have in our collections, and we will try to order the material for you from another library.

This service costs £5.

Fill in the Article request form and wait for a confirmation email.

You can also suggest books for us to purchase for our collection using our Feedback and book suggestion form.
